DocuSign Transaction Rooms - What's the Difference Between an Assignee and a Watcher

When setting up tasks within DocuSign Transaction Rooms: Broker Edition, people are added to the task as assignees and watchers.

Here are the differences between the two:

Watcher
Definition: A watcher is someone who is monitoring the task.

  • Will have visibility into a specific task if they are marked as a watcher.
  • Will receive┬ánotifications when they are initially added to the task and when an action is taken on that task (task is marked complete/incomplete).
  • Will not have the ability to edit the task (unless they are a manager with the required permissions).
  • Will not see other tasks in which they are not the watcher (unless they are the owner of the room or a manager with the required permissions).

Assignee
Definition: The assignee is responsible for the completion of a task.

  • Will have visibility into a specific task if they are marked as the assignee.
  • Will receive notifications when they are initially added to the task, task reminders (if applicable), task due dates, and when an action is taken on that task (task is marked complete/incomplete).
  • May have the ability to edit the task if the task has the AGENT CAN EDIT option enabled.
  • Will not see other tasks in which they are not the assignee or water (unless they are the owner of the room or a manager with the required permissions)
