DocuSign for Salesforce - There are no attachments on the Salesforce record you are sending from

Issue

Error message after clicking a Send with DocuSign button: There are no attachments on the Salesforce record you are sending from. Add one or more attachments to the record and try again.

Cause

DocuSign for Salesforce is unable to generate the envelope. This may be due to a permissions issue or a misconfigured custom button.

Solution

If a custom button is in use, review the parameters. If a template is being called, confirm the template is shared and the impacted user has permission to use templates in DocuSign.
In the past, this error has been associated with other user-level permissions on the DocuSign side. It is recommended that you review the user's permission set and confirm they have the appropriate level of access for the workflow being used.

If this does not resolve the issue, please open a case with DocuSign Support and include the following:
  • The scope of the issue - is one user affected or are several?
  • The email address of impacted user(s)
  • If a custom button is in use, include the code of that button
  • Was this previously functional, or is this a new development?
